Emma Yoon, Julianne Song, violin
Lindsay McLay, viola
Alice Gott, cello
Performing works by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Mozart and
Hindemith.
The Lazarus Quartet is made up of under-graduate and post-graduate
students from the University of Canterbury. Before their Tertiary study
Emma, Julianne and Lindsay were members of the Pettman Junior Academy,
and all four members have become active in the Christchurch music scene.
Although the Lazarus Quartet was formed this year, its members have been
playing together in various ensembles since 2006, including the Felix
Octet and Bedrich Quartet who were national prizewinners of the
Community Trust Chamber Music Contest. Collectively they have had
master-classes from international musicians such as Stephen Schrader,
the Abegg Trio, Charles Castleman and Roman Nodel. All four intend to
study overseas after finishing their degrees; in 2010, Alice and
Julianne will travel to Europe to undergo a series of auditions.
